Yes, good work should be rewarded and recognized. It will increase the employee’s trust and motivation. When employee get rewards and recognized it encourage them for giving their best performance and increase commitment toward organization. Reward system also creates a good competition among employees and it will increase the productivity of the organization. Reward system keep employees morale high and employees feel that they are worth living for organization. When employees recognized and rewarded it also reduces employee turnover and employee absenteeism. When employees rewarded and recognized it create a good environment in organization in which employees feel as partner and employee’s loyalty toward organization also increased.
The supervisor has to perform several roles and use various strategies while guiding employees in the organization that encourage employees to work together positively. Supervisor should try to maintain good industrial relations for ensuring the work gets done. Tasks should be assigned to those employees who have capabilities and potentials for performing these tasks. There should be proper of span of control and every employee should receive guide and instructions only from one superior. Supervisor also performs as counselor and problem solver. Management should try to create an environment of confidence and trust. Supervisors should have good behavioral, leadership and communication skills. To encourage employees to work together, supervisor should try to secure effective cooperation of employees and also try to build strong interpersonal relations. Supervisor should maintain discipline and encourage teamwork spirit among employees.
In buddy system, two people work together and help each other. When an employee joins the organization, he doesn’t have knowledge about work processes and organization’s culture. There is need of conducting induction to make new employee familiar with work process, organization’s culture and environment. Buddy system helps in employee’s induction. In buddy system an experienced employee assists new employee in cultural integration and become familiar with work process. This method helps new employees used for some early days. The new employees learn work process and operations more quickly while having frequent contact with experienced employees.
This is an exercise conducted by personnel department of the organization so that new and existing employees can try to analyze the work demands and his capabilities. Employees must do self evaluation to identifying shortcoming and lack of skill in performing the job, so that employees can improve their skills and can learn new jobs.
It is deemed that employees are assets of the organization and increase in their skill also increase the value of assets. Sometimes it becomes necessary for employees to identify that what they can do or what they can’t do. Self evaluation helps in identifying training needs. Employees should learn new skills so that organization can be beneficiated. Feedback must be given to every employee about his work. Generally feedback concerns with employee’s performance and end results. Positive feedback provided when employees perform above the standard and negative feedback given when employees perform below the standard. Positive feedback may be provided through pasting an appreciation letter on organization’s notice board, increment in salary, promotion, awards and providing more responsibilities. Negative feedback provided through punishment, warning, demotion and decreasing responsibilities.
